BMW X4 xDrive35i

BMW X4 xDrive35i Review

Published on:09/2/16

If the BMW X6 is any indication of consumer demand, the BMW X4 xDrive 35i should have no problem gaining a foothold in the SUV market.  This high-end medium-sized SUV looks like a combination of an SUV and a sport coupe, which may seem like an odd combo until you actually give it a try.  From the front of the BMW X4, we can see the SUV aspect, but from the side profile you get the impression of a large sedan.  BMW hopes to cash in on those wanting a sporty vehicle but require the extra cargo provided by an SUV.

Driving and Handling

Before detailing the luxury of this vehicle, let us discuss the handling and performance.  The BMW X4 xDrive35i features the same engine used in the 3 series, a 3.0-litre single-turbo petrol engine.  This powerful engine can produce 235kW of power and 400Nm of torque, which helps push the medium-sized SUV from 0-100km/h in a mere 5.5 seconds.  The eight-speed automatic transmission is the only available transmission and handles everything fine.  The lower profile of the X4 allows for more a car-like feel than most SUVs.  The firm suspension and the 20 inch wheels round out the handling and performance of the BMW X4.  You really do feel the intention of the designers in creating a high-performance sporty SUV, when you get behind the wheel.

Interior of the BMW X4 xDrive35i

The inside of the BMW X4 xDrive35i is welcoming and spacious.  There is leather trim throughout the cabin and cushioned seating that is great for long hauls.  Despite the low-profile of the BMW X4, there is still plenty of headroom, thanks to seats that are mounted lower.  As would be expected by the starting price of $87,900 plus on road costs this vehicle is loaded with features.  You will get climate control, rain sensing windshield wipers, cruise control, both front and rear parking sensors, and satellite navigation, all of which are standard in the BMW X4.  Some of the extras that you can get include a heads-up display, sunroof, internet, and more.  As far as storage space, the rear is ample with 500-litres of cargo room.  Once the rear seats are folded, you get 1400-litres.BMW xDrive35i

You can expect a standard suite of safety features, including anti-lock brakes, EBD, airbags, traction control, and braking assist.  For those that are tired of the standard SUV designs flooding the market, the BMW X4 xDrive35i may be able to fit the gap between sports car and SUV.  Before you write it off, give it a test drive.
