The Australian government are in discussions with Uber or soon to be Uber Air about the proposal of short-trip, low altitude air taxis which are electronically powered machines.
The Uber Air service could launch in Australia by 2023 with demonstration flights as early as 2020.
The spokesperson for the Civil Aviation Safety Authority stated that they are currently working through the very few legal issues to set up the innovative aviation operations in Australia.
If the bid is successful, Uber Air expects to develop approximately 25 ‘Skyports’ around Melbourne and Sydney to help customers get out of traffic gridlock.
